Abstract: (80 Views)
Background: The present article was done with the aim to investigate the effectiveness the metacognitive therapy on pain catastrophizing and mental fatigue of women with Lupus disease.
Methods: The method of present research is semi- experimental with pre and posttest, delay post, within two month, and a control group. The statistical population consisted of all women with Lupus disease who came to Lupus association during 2023; among them 30 volunteers were chosen purposefully in random way and categorized in two groups of experimental and control. The questionnaire of Pain Coping Strategies created by Rosenstein & Keefe(1983) was applied to estimate pain catastrophizing estimation, and the Mental Fatigue questionnaire was evaluated through Smets et al(1995) questionnaire of Fatigue Feeling. Prior to the intervention both group had participated in pain catastrophizing and mental fatigue pretest. The experimental group received metacognitive therapies through 8 sessions of treatment protocol, however the control group had no treatment sessions. Afterwards, in posttest level, both groups answered to the same instruments of pretest stage and later in two month, questionnaires were answered by both groups, again.
Results: The data was analyzed through Variance Analysis with Repeated Measures. The obtained results demonstrated the effectiveness of metacognitive therapy on pain catastrophizing and mental fatigue, and the effectiveness was stable after two months (p<0.05).
Conclusion: According to the effectiveness and stability of metacognitive therapy; in order to decrease pain catastrophizing and mental fatigue of patients with Lupus disease, it is suggested to utilize this treatment in medical and counseling centers.
